Labor Union

“Do bloggers need their own Norma Rae?”

Has the thought of a bloggers labor union ever crossed your mind? Many left sided bloggers have thought about this and many have already taken action. Susie Madrak, the author of Suburban Guerilla blog stated, ‘’I think people have just gotten to the point where people outside the blogsphere understand the value of what it is that we do on the progressive side. And I think they feel a little more entitled to ask for something now.” Could you imagine? Bloggers with health insurance and other coverages!

The Blogsphere is definitely a weird word…and place. It is also a place where the power and presence of the political realm is being noticed, especially for the 2008 campaigning. Organizers believe that a blogger’s labor union would help professionalize what many call a hobby.

Who knows what’s in store for the future of bloggers and blogging. Here are some quick stats for you to ponder over. Technorati’s data has shown that over 120,000 blogs are created everyday and 58,000 plus posts are created every hour. Technorati collects and tracks data from over 94 million blogs worldwide.
