CEO says 787 faces challenges but insists it will be ready for 2008 debut
The long awaited Boeing 787 is almost here. Boeing postponed the first flight and is pushing its tests from September to August. The first Boeing 787 is to be delivered to All Nippon Airways in May of 2008. This announcement didn’t do much to hurt the company as its second quarter earnings were up $1.35 a share which is up $17 billion in revenue. This is much better than last years $160 million lose which caused the company to pay a $615 million fine to the government. The Boeing 787 still remains about 2 percent heavier than it should be executives say. Engineers are going over how to redesign parts of the wing and window frames to meet the weight requirements.
