What’s Happening at Microsoft
It has been 1 year after the announcement that Bill Gates, the co-founder of Microsoft, would begin his 2 year transition to leave his empire. Bill Gates announced the transition so he and his wife could devote more time to their $33 billion foundation they established about 7 years ago. Bill Gates still participates in high-level strategy sessions with Microsoft’s closest partners such as Intel and also stays active in other parts of the technology driven company. Bill Gates said, “I am in a lucky situation of having way more things that seem interesting to do and very exciting and important, and working with smart people, and highly impactful, way more than a 24-hour day will fit.” Despite all of the changes within Microsoft, it’s hard to say that Bill Gates won’t participate in the planning of Microsoft’s future and its projects. The two Microsoft executives to succeed Bill Gates are Craig Mundie, the chief research and strategy officer, and Ray Ozzie, the chief software architect.
