About Glenn

Glenn Hawkins is a second year business economics major at UCSB (University of California, Santa Barbara). He is 20 years old and has an identical mirror twin. He was also adopted when he was six months old.

He isn’t a very complicated person, but he is someone who knows what he wants. There is a time in your life when you realize what you want, and what you want is what you live for. He lives by a simple analogy. That analogy is that without dreams there are no goals; without goals there is no life. What is the purpose in life if you have no dreams and goals? living life in a continuous cycle seems pointless and wasteful (getting up, shower/eat, going to work until 5, eat dinner, have couple hours of free time, and back to sleep for another boring same day). You can create a life where you do what you want to do, based on your successes instead of someone else’s. There are times in life when you are left thinking “what would have happened if I made that one choice?” I find my self thinking about it all the time. If it wasn’t for the cause, there would never be an effect. But it’s that “cause” the times, the places, and the outcomes of situations that make life so interesting. What if my name wasn’t Glenn Hawkins? What if I wasn’t adopted? What if I didn’t choose to go to the college I’m currently at? It is the “what ifs” that have brought me here today. Always thinking about what could have happened and the outcome of choices made is what creates life and defines us. The outcome of those situations is what makes us who we are. Therefore, do not dwell on the past, but look ahead in the future. If your mind can believe it you can achieve it.

Glenn is interested in many things such as weight lifting, baseball, the beach, photography, and the acoustic guitar. Weight lifting became part of his lifestyle since sophomore year in high school, because he was told he was to ‘small’ to play baseball. Ever since then it has been a part of his life. This is one of those moments that defined his life and lifestyle. Through discrimination of being ‘too small’ he was told he wouldn’t play baseball. Everyday he would train and weight lift with his brother and overcome the words ‘you’re too small’. He loves working out still because it helps him stay in shape and look good for the ladies. He found himself going to a college right on the beach and fell in love with it. The beach is a place where he can relax and self reflect on life. There are times where a person just needs to get away from everything and this is it. Photography is really cool and he would love to pick it up and make a hobby out of it. He also wishes to learn how to play the acoustic guitar because music is a huge part of life. Think of a time when you don’t hear music. It’s very rare when there is a place you don’t hear music. Just hearing people play the acoustic guitar inspires him to learn himself, because of the relaxing sound that comes out of it.

With that, enjoy what you read here, because I will be posting things that seem interesting to me.
